Variation in the dimensions of urediniospores of Melampsora ciliata harvested from different Poplar species grown under different environmental conditions has been observed in the present investigations. Smallest urediniospores (20.88 x 15.43 µm) produced on P. ciliata were recorded at Rahla (Zone III) while largest (36.30 x 19.97 µm) were recorded at Raison (Zone II). Urediniospores produced on P. deltoides and P. nigra were smaller in size at Nauni and Raison (Zone II), while larger spores on these species were recorded at Shoghi and Tapri (Zone III). Spores produced in pustules of P. alba at Spillo were smaller as compared to those produced at Reckong Peo. Irrespective of the host genotype and climatic zone, smallest urediniospores were produced on P. alba.- Deflection in Micro-Scale Thermoelastic Simply-Supported Beams Due to Patch Loading

In this paper, an analytical model is developed and investigated for the transverse deflection in a transversely isotropic, thermoelastic simply-supported beam resonator subjected to time harmonic patch loading. Closed form expressions based on Euler–Bernoulli beam theory are derived for the flexural vibrations in a transversely isotropic, thermoelastic micro-beam. A time harmonic patch load is assumed to act within the region of the beam. The Laplace transform technique has been used to find the transverse deflection in the transform domain due to patch loading on the beam. The deflection so obtained in a physical domain has been computed numerically with the help of MATLAB software and presented graphically for silicon material beams. Keywords

The aim of this paper is to study the disturbances in a homogeneous, transversely isotropic (6mm class), linear generalized piezothermoelastic rectangular continuum subjected to continuous temperature input The aim of this paper is to study the disturbances in a homogeneous, transversely isotropic due to impact and continuous strip thermal sources, temperature or temperature gradient input acting on the rigidly fixed and charge free(open circuit) surface of a homogeneous, transversely isotropic, thermally conducting, generalized piezothermoelastic half-space. The Laplace and Fourier transforms technique have been employed to solve the model consisting of partial differential equations and boundary conditions in the transformed domain. In order to obtain the results in the physical domain the quadratic complex polynomial characteristic equation corresponding to the associated system of coupled ordinary differential equations has been solved by using DesCartes’ algorithm with the help of irreducible Cardano’s method. The inverse transform integrals are evaluated by using numerical technique consisting of Fourier series approximation and Romberg integration. The temperature change, stresses and electric potential so obtained in the physical domain are computed numerically and presented graphically for cadmium selenide (CdSe) material. The study may find applications in smart structures, piezoelectric filters, resonators, transducers, sensing devices and vibration control. Keywords
